LORING provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection and vertical
transportation systems design for the renovation and historical
restoration of this 125,000 square-foot court building.
The courthouse is five-stories with an ornate triple-domed rotunda,
designed by Cass Gilbert and constructed between 1902 and 1906.
Engineering services included design for a new chiller plant,
central HVAC, general electrical and lighting upgrade, plumbing
improvements, modern life safety systems and elevator upgrade.

The project involved the complete
replacement of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, as well as the
addition of new sprinkler systems. Making
this project even more challenging were the large murals and substantial
amount of ornamental finishes throughout the building.
