This 400,000 sf laboratory and office complex consists of more than 200,000 sf of research laboratories, over 150,000 sf of support service areas and 50,000 sf of office amenity areas. In addition, there is a separate central utility plant and maintenance building, as well as on-grade parking for over 1,200 cars.
Laboratory:
The laboratory wing is a single level modular design, with service corridors, allowing for future expansion and modifications to the research program. Currently, there are 20,000 sf of Class 10 clean rooms which are also of modular design. The design of the laboratory areas mechanical and electrical systems provides for the storage and handling of acid waste, toxic gases and explosive gases. Processes requiring special temperature and humidity conditions are controlled by dedicated systems, such as glycol chillers, steam generators and environmental room units, to maintain all environmental conditions required for a number of special research programs.
Three separate duct systems provided in each laboratory block exhaust ordinary fume hood exhaust, toxic fumes and acid fumes independent of each other. The acid and toxic fumes are passed through scrubbers before being discharged into the atmosphere.
The outdoor air intake system, for the entire building, is designed in the shape of a 400 foot long tunnel whose intake ports, at the two extreme ends, assure the greatest possible separation between intake air and the various exhaust emission points.
