J. Michael Galway is Managing Principal of Loring’s Gaithersburg, MD office and Principal at the Washington, DC office, which, through his 40 years of multifaceted engineering experience, he has steered to a greater project diversity and complexity. Michael joined Loring in 2004, inspired by his high school study of the World Trade Center and its renowned architect Minoru Yamasaki and electrical engineer Joseph Loring. Since then, Michael has contributed a wealth of expertise to Loring’s growing DC operation in the areas of building design, master planning, LEED and sustainable implementation, and quality assurance and quality control reviews for the GSA, NASA, the National Institutes of Health, and the Smithsonian Institution.

In addition to managing the office’s day-to-day operations and strengthening its presence in the healthcare, higher education, science and technology, and utility plant market sectors, Michael also serves as the Senior Mechanical Engineer and a member of the Joint Venture Executive Committee overseeing the design of two of the nation’s treasured landmarks, the Smithsonian Castle in Washington, DC, and the Philadelphia Custom House in Philadelphia, PA.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from Penn State University. He is licensed in over 12 states including, MD, DE, and District of Columbia. He is certified in plumbing engineering design (CPD), is a LEED Accredited Professional, and is a member of ASHRAE, ASPE, APT, and IFMA. He has a passion for the outdoors, his 1966 Mustang, and antique bottle collecting.
