Museums and exhibition spaces present special challenges to the engineer. By its nature, such a facility creates the highest expectations of quality, comfort, ease and flexibility of use, and security. In addition, interior environmental requirements are often very stringent, while fire protection and security systems must be designed
to function effectively when called upon, but without damage to the precious and irreplaceable content of the collections.
Over the course of several decades,
Joseph R. Loring & Associates,
Inc.
has had the privilege of designing systems for several outstanding fine arts and educational museum facilities, including a unique private-sector exhibition space (the Merrill-Lynch Museum & Exchange Center) and four galleries of the American Museum of Natural History.
