Energy Engineer (NY-CEC-01)

Role
We are seeking an Energy Engineer who will work in coordination with Loring’s Energy and Commissioning Services group on projects across the organization. The incumbent will work in our New York City office.
Primary Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Perform energy engineering studies, including energy audits, feasibility studies, retro-commissioning, and others.
  • Utilize eQuest energy modeling application to predict benefits from energy efficiency projects, LEED compliance projects, NYC Green Schools Guide, deep energy retrofits, and other energy compliance projects.
  • Work on a variety of energy savings calculations, strategies, and projects.
  • Review calculations and assumptions used to estimate or measure savings from energy efficiency projects.
  • Write technical reports, including word processing and spreadsheet analyses.
  • Create measurement and verification plans.
  • Stay informed about energy issues and industry trends through regular technical reading, and participation in local and national professional organizations.
Qualifications & Education Requirements
  • A baccalaureate degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited 4-year institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in commercial/institutional building projects.
  • Proven experience with eQuest on real projects.
  • Knowledge and experience working with AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Building Commissioning Professional (CBCP), or equivalent certifications preferred.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, and a demonstrated capability for analysis and strategic thinking.
  • Strong initiative—the willingness and ability to succeed in a collaborative, team-based environment.
  • Ability to multi-task with multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent technical writing skills.
