Technology Design Engineer- IT/AV Design Engineer (NY-TC02)

Role
We are seeking a Technology Design Engineer who will work on technology planning projects including Telecom, AV & Security. The incumbent will work with clients, manufacturers, design team members and others preparing construction documentation for each project. Experience should include drafting, designing, preparing specifications, and evaluating bid responses for telecommunications and security trades. This is an in-office position working daily from our New York City office.  
Primary Responsibilities

The incumbent will serve as a liaison between architects, clients, consultants, and project managers from multiple engineering trades to identify, and implement cabling infrastructure requirements for each individual project. The main responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Verifying proper installation of all technology infrastructure equipment during project construction phase.
  • Making determinations on project construction budgets, reviewing bid documents, and overseeing the project bidding and project administration phase.
  • Making vendor recommendations.
Qualifications & Education Requirements
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited 4-year institution.
  • Minimum of 7 years professional experience in designing and drawing AV and security systems.
  • Knowledge of AV and security systems including but not limited to flow diagrams, rack elevations and logical diagrams.
  • Hands on experience with creating AV plans, engineering schematics, wiring diagrams.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure including cable plant (horizontal & backbone), telecommunication room design, and pathways.
  • Familiarity with AV, Security and BICSI standards required.
  • Experience with CAD & BIM software including AutoCAD & REVIT.
  • CTS-Certified Technology Specialist, RCDD and architectural drafting background a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong Analytical and quantitative skills, and a demonstrated capability for analysis and strategic thinking.
  • Strong initiative—the willingness and ability to succeed in a collaborative, team-based environment.
  • Ability to multi-task with multiple projects in order to meet strict deadlines.

 

 

The salary range for this position will be between $110,000 -$130,000. We are required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. Actual base salary will vary and will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, education, skills, licensure, location and other business and organizational needs. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package.
