Since 1990, Loring has been providing MEP-FP-T and commissioning services in Texas, successfully completing 31 projects over the past five years. To better service this growing demand, Loring has established a permanent presence by opening an office in Houston. Loring has partnered with the GSA statewide and has undertaken projects at the Dallas Museum of Art and the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston. In 2016, Loring went international with the opening of our Toronto office. The office serves all of Canada and provides the full range of Loring’s services, both supporting and drawing on the technical expertise and resources of our U.S. offices. Our Canadian professionals tackle projects in all market sectors for all building types. We have been involved in some of Canada’s most innovative projects, including a modular water treatment plant for Canada’s First Nations, a major electrical infrastructure upgrade at a confidential federal critical facility; privately funded healthcare outpatient centres, and design and commissioning services for numerous university, banking, and commercial clients.
Philadelphia, PA
One of two recently opened offices in the Mid-Atlantic, Loring’s Philadelphia, PA office provides a local presence for projects in the high–growth Pennsylvania and Delaware markets for higher education, healthcare, technology, commercial, and residential development. Loring has a historic presence in the Philadelphia market, completing projects for the University of the Arts, the University of Pennsylvania, IBM, and various commercial office and retail clients. Currently, Loring is part of a joint venture, the prime consultant on a $100-million mechanical upgrade project at the Philadelphia Customs House for the General Services Administration (GSA) where the design and construction of the 17-story historic building will be phased over several years to accommodate the building’s occupants.

Our Washington, DC office is well-established with area owners, architects, and developers, having served the region and beyond for over 50 years. Today, Loring’s Washington, DC office provides a local base for the firm’s large federal, embassy, and governmental agency projects, as well as healthcare and laboratories. Additionally, the office is very involved in commercial, cultural, and higher education work in the greater region. Our renowned Historic Restoration, Preservation, and Modernization practice serves public and private clients throughout the country, including complex projects for the state capitols of Michigan and Wyoming, and work for the Smithsonian Institution, the District of Columbia Courts, and the General Services Administration. In addition to traditional engineering design services, our DC office has a group of professionals who are dedicated to both commissioning and energy services.

Opened in 1997, the Princeton, NJ office has provided 25 years of engineering services for leading cultural, academic, and government facilities, including significant projects at Princeton University and Rutgers University, as well as comprehensive renovation and historic restoration projects such as the Statue of Liberty and state capitol buildings in Wyoming, Michigan, and New Jersey. Our Princeton office also provided master planning and engineering for multiple buildings at the highly acclaimed Willow School, a private school in New Jersey dedicated to sustainable design and environmental stewardship, including a net-zero energy building meeting the Living Building Challenge.

New York City has been home to Loring’s headquarters since the firm’s inception in 1956. Our 125+ person headquarters include technical staff across all MEP, fire protection, life safety, energy, commissioning, and information technology disciplines. Our New York team is comprised of interdisciplinary engineers organized by market sectors specializing in healthcare, K-12, higher education, cultural, utilities/infrastructure, and mixed-use/residential development. Our New York City office is also home to many of our technical directors, a highly experienced group of senior engineers who perform corporate-wide functions of setting and updating Loring’s technical standards, vetting new and emerging technologies, and mentoring younger engineers, and are key members of our quality assurance/quality control program. In a city with a significant stock of aging infrastructure, we have developed a strong portfolio of providing major systems upgrades in existing buildings, many of which are partially or fully occupied throughout construction. These complex renovation and adaptive reuse projects include both public and private sector projects for some of the region’s most respected cultural, educational, healthcare, and government institutions.
