Michael DesRochers launched his engineering career as a summer intern at Loring in 1982, rising through the ranks to take the helm as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in 2016. As part of Loring’s long-term ownership transition plan, beginning in 2024 Mike will retain his position as Chairman and will continue to serve on Loring’s Executive Committee responsible for setting the firm’s overall direction and growth. He takes an active role as the Principal-in-Charge on some of Loring’s most complex projects, with specialized expertise in healthcare, infrastructure upgrades, hospitality, historic restorations, and public sector work. A product and a proponent of Loring’s strong mentoring tradition, Mike maintains a highly visible and accessible presence with the firm’s next generation of leaders. His goal is to pay forward his love of the profession—the challenges and the fun—and instill a desire to continue the reputation of excellence that the Loring name represents for generations to come.
Mike holds a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering from Penn State University and a Master of Business Administration from Rutgers University, and served for 25 years as an adjunct professor at NYU’s School of Professional Studies. He is licensed in New York, New Jersey, North Carolina, the District of Columbia, and 10 other states. He serves as an active member of several committees for ACEC New York, and on the Board of Directors for Design Professionals Risk Control Group, an organization committed to risk management in the AEC industry.
