Design and construction of this 37,000 SF renovation project occurred concurrently with a steam-to-hot-water conversion project that included air handling equipment and heating coils serving the area of renovation. Careful scheduling was required to ensure both project paths progressed simultaneously. In order to procure long lead items, including a new air handling unit, VAV terminal units, and other critical mechanical equipment, a pre-purchase bid package was provided to ensure that equipment would arrive on schedule while the construction documents were developed. Because of limited access and the below-grade location of the area of renovation and mechanical equipment rooms, equipment was designed to be delivered in sections and assembled on-site.
