​​Commissioning Engineer(#NY-CME-01)

We are seeking a Commissioning Engineer; the incumbent will work in either our corporate office in New York City or our Parsippany, NJ office. Working closely with our clients, the Commissioning Group focuses on ensuring that project designs are tested and ready for operational use.  

The main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Perform NEBB-certified TAB on HVAC systems including air distribution, hydronic, and exhaust systems.
• Measure, record, and adjust airflow (CFM), water flow (GPM), temperature, and pressure in accordance with design documents.
• Calibrate and set terminal units, VAV boxes, fan coil units, AHUs, chillers, boilers, cooling towers, and pumps.
• Identify and document deficiencies, coordinate resolution with mechanical contractors and design engineers.
• Prepare comprehensive NEBB TAB reports with field data, calculations, and compliance statements.
• Utilize instruments such as manometers, pitot tubes, anemometers, flow hoods, hydronic flow meters, and data loggers.
• Lead and execute commissioning activities for mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and building automation (BAS/BMS)
• Develop, review, and execute Commissioning Plans, Pre-Functional Checklists (PFCs), and Functional Performance Tests (FPTs).
• Witness equipment startup and verify performance against specifications, submittals, and sequences of operation.
• Coordinate with general contractors, MEP subcontractors, controls vendors, and design engineers during commissioning phases.
• Document all commissioning activities and prepare Issues Logs, Cx Reports, and Systems Manuals
• Support Integrated System Testing (IST) and retro-commissioning (RCx) on existing facilities as required.

• A baccalaureate degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related fields from an accredited 4-year institution
• OR
• An associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, or related fields AND a certification in Building Automation Systems, Building System Commissioning (Cx), or Building Enclosure Testing (BET)
• Minimum of 3 years related experience. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years’ experience.
• Professional experience and proficiency with Bluebeam and AutoCAD
• Ability to set up TAB drawings and documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills and demonstrated capacity for analysis and strategic thinking.
• Strong initiative, willingness, and ability to succeed in a collaborative, team-based environment.
• Ability to multi-task with multiple projects and ability to meet strict deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way, both verbally and in writing.

• Certified Building Commissioning Professional (CBCP)
• National Environmental Balancing Bureau (NEBB) certified TAB CT or CP
• Associated Air Balance Council (AABC) certified Test and Balance Engineer (TBE) or Test and Balance Technician
• Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP)
• Associate Commissioning Professional

 

The salary range for this position will be between $82,000- $95,000. This is a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. Actual base salary will vary and will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, education, skills, licensure, location and other business and organizational needs. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package.
