​​Entry-Level Commissioning Engineer (#NY-CME-02)

We are seeking an Entry-Level Commissioning Engineer; the incumbent will work in our corporate office in New York City and should be comfortable with local travel several times per week. Working closely with our clients, the Commissioning Group focuses on ensuring that project designs are tested and ready for operational use.  

The main responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Develop, review, and execute Commissioning Plans, Pre-Functional Checklists (PFCs), and Functional Performance Tests (FPTs).
• Coordinate with general contractors, MEP subcontractors, controls vendors, and design engineers during commissioning phases.
• Execute commissioning activities for mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and building automation (BAS/BMS).
• Functionally test HVAC, electrical, plumbing systems, and building automation systems.
• Witness equipment startup and training sessions for facilities staff and system operations.
• Utilize instruments such as manometers, pitot tubes, anemometers, flow hoods, hydronic flow meters, and data loggers.
• Verify performance against specifications, submittals, and sequences of operation.
• Identify and document deficiencies, coordinate resolution with mechanical contractors and design engineers.
• Prepare comprehensive NEBB TAB reports with field data, calculations, and compliance statements.
• Document all commissioning activities (field reports) and prepare Issues Logs, Cx Reports, and Systems Manuals.
• Support Integrated System Testing (IST) and retro-commissioning (RCx) on existing facilities as required.

• A baccalaureate degree in Mechanical Engineering or related fields from an accredited 4-year institution.
• Familiarity with Bluebeam and AutoCAD a plus.
• Ability to set up TAB drawings and documentation.
• Ability to travel to all NY boroughs around 2-3x/week.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills and demonstrated capacity for analysis and strategic thinking.
• Strong initiative, willingness, and ability to succeed in a collaborative, team-based environment.
• Ability to multi-task with multiple projects and ability to meet strict deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way, both verbally and in writing.

The salary for this entry level position is $78,000. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. At Loring, we offer a competitive benefits package, and eligibility for discretionary incentives based on position, which are determined by company and individual performance.
