Whitney Young Manor is a low-income, mixed use residential building located in Yonkers, NY. The property consists of two (2) 12 story residential towers connected by a podium that accommodates a parking garage and commercial tenant spaces. The building is 234,000 square feet and houses 195 apartments. The building was constructed in 1974 with MEP systems that coincide with that era. Energy efficiency, sustainability, and decarbonization were the major focus of this $22 million revitalization. The project was selected by NYSERDA as part of The Empire Building Challenge competition for building owners to implement phased, strategic plans towards achieving carbon neutrality. The project includes a Sewage Heat Recovery (SHARC) wastewater storage and energy recovery system.
