Nigel Bastiampillai

P. Eng.
Senior Vice President

Nigel Bastiampillai joined Loring in 2016 to start up and lead the firm’s Toronto office, managing all aspects of operations in Canada. He brings to Loring a decade of expertise in data centers and mission critical projects, as well as experience in airport, university, and healthcare projects. Under his direction, the Toronto office has amassed a diverse portfolio of work in retail, corporate interiors, commercial, healthcare, higher education, and research, as well as numerous projects for prominent banking firms, government agencies, and developers.

Prior to joining Loring, Nigel spent the better part of a year helping to run his family’s high-tech printing business in Sri Lanka. Meeting the challenges of managing a business—from HR to P&L—was a primer for Nigel on the challenges and rewards of entrepreneurship. As head of Loring Toronto, Nigel combines this valuable skillset with exacting customer service standards and a strong technical engineering background, fostering a growth-oriented, client-responsive environment.

A racecar aficionado, Nigel holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering with an Automotive Option from the University of Windsor, a Master of Motorsport Engineering and Management from Cranfield University (UK), as well as the Osgoode Certificate in Construction Law from the Osgoode Hall Law School of York University. He is a member of the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO), Board Member of the Building Commissioning Association (BCA) for the Eastern Canada Chapter, and a member of the Association for Computer Operations Management (AFCOM).
